Our Installation Process

Here's how the process runs:

• Site walk and measurement. We confirm the fence line, flag corners, and check for obstacles above and below ground.
• Material and layout selection. We go over material options, gate locations, and any grade changes along the run.
• Permit check. Depending on the city or county, you may need a fence permit before work starts. In unincorporated areas that usually goes through the county building or codes department. Inside city limits it usually goes through that city's planning or codes office. Requirements vary by jurisdiction, so we confirm what applies to your property before we dig.
• Utility locate. We coordinate a utility locate before any digging to avoid buried lines.
• Post installation. This is where ground conditions matter most. Rocky or cherty subsoil, common across parts of the Cumberland Plateau, takes longer to dig through than softer valley soil, and we plan the job for that instead of rushing it.
• Panel, rail, or picket installation. Once posts are set, we install the fencing material itself and hang any gates.
• Final walkthrough. We walk the finished fence line with you to check gate swing, latch function, and overall fit before we call the job done.

A Few Things That Affect Fence Installation Here

Some properties in this region sit in areas with karst geology, so sinkholes and sinking streams are a real possibility depending on location. That can affect where posts can safely go and how a fence line gets routed. Properties in or near a historic district, or inside a planned community with its own architectural rules, may also have restrictions on fence style, height, or materials, and those restrictions can apply before a standard building permit even comes into play.
