Pickett County sits in the transition zone between the Eastern Highland Rim and the Cumberland Plateau, marked by steep escarpments, narrow ridges, and incised valleys. It's Tennessee's least populous county, and most of the fence work we see here reflects that. Dale Hollow Lake, formed when the Obey River was impounded in 1943, spreads across much of western Pickett County and shapes a lot of the property here. Permits and building codes

Both Pickett County and the Town of Byrdstown have opted out of building code jurisdiction entirely. That means no county or municipal building code applies to fence construction here.
